Apple has improved security by introducing their new 'V2 code signing' (it is a way to guarantee that the application came from the developer and has not been altered, infected with a virus, or damaged in any way). While Adobe is signing future updates with V2, some applications that are signed with the older V1 code signing may issue a warning: '<Adobe application> can’t be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.' Apr 26, 2021 Adobe Creative Suite 3 Known Issues with Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Adobe Acrobat 8 The enhanced security features present in Mac OS X 10.6 prevent Adobe's PDF Printer from functioning as it did in previous versions ( TechNote cpsid50981). Once installed, I also downloaded Java for OS X Download Java for OS X 2015-001 which, as I understand it, is needed to run the Adobe CS4 suite. After that I tried Photoshop, InDesign and Dreamweaver – and all apps work seamlessly with OS X Sierra on my iMac. (iMac (Retina 5K, 27″, end 2015 with Fusion Drive). Photoshop and Indesign worked directly after the upgrade. I had some trouble getting Illustrator to work: I had problems with Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Yosemite. After the upgrade I installed Java for OS X 2014-001, as suggested by others. This seemed to work (sometimes) but when I opened Illustrator for the 2nd time it failed to open.

When using Mac OS X 10.10 with Safari 8, PDFs do not open using the Adobe Acrobat or Reader PDF browser plug-in. When opening a PDF in a browser, Safari's PDF Preview is the default PDF viewer. Explicitly set the Adobe plug-in as the default PDF viewer. Learn more.
