I couldn’t not play this at some point. I will admit that in a lot of ways it’s a big improvement on the original. It does kind of fall apart near the end of someone who wants to get everything, but that’s true of almost any game.

If you don’t know Huniepop, somehow, its a match 3 game with a very Western lewd sense of humor. It uses western archetypes and just generally is offensive and crass but has fun with it. Not really for me but the original game was one of the breakout successes of early lewd gaming.

Story

I think it was two years? Anyway, a few years after Huniepop 1, our main character from that has been living a very sexually active life. We join them as his fashion model girl leaves and in comes the fairy to reveal the world’s about to end. To save it, they need someone who can sexually satisfy two space cthullu girls at the same time, and so off the two go to some resort island to learn about threesomes and get the items needed to wake the space chicks up so that they can be orgasmed back to sleep.

Definitely more stakes then wants to get laid, the actual in game stuff is mostly two girls hitting it off enough to excuse them sleeping with each other. The game has way more character interactions then the first, but after a bit any story dies off just like in the original. Not much else to say here.

Gameplay

Match 3. I’m not going into the direct puzzle gameplay much here, there’s plenty of match 3 games at this point and it’s mostly the stuff around it that’s interesting and sets this apart.

So the main gimmick, threesome’s, changes a few things about the standard match 3 formula. The biggest one is the stamina system. Each girl has 6 points max, and a normal match i worth 1 point. Double matches 2 and so on. If a girl reaches zero she gets tired and can’t be switched to until she gets four points back. When you complete a match the other girl regains 1 stamina, so you basically balance stamina between the two.

Each girl has their favorite color match, leaset favorite and baggage. Baggage is kinda the progression system of the game, as you unlock each new one for a girl new things become available to purchase that up your stats. They also act as unique debuffs in your runs. Each girl has three at max, and they range from almost completely ignorable to you have to based your entire match on it. Thankfully you can check which baggage you will have to deal with before a date. If you have a bad set, just switch partners.

After that, it’s basically the original game. You need to do each set twice, with the sex version of the match 3 happening on the 2nd one. That one removes the timer and just has you match as fast as possible and honestly, is the more fun mode.

Instead of sex scenes, Huniepop has a sex minigame, where the girls moan a lot as you play a simpler version of the game’s match 3. When you win, you get a cg. Since this game’s whole theme is threesomes, you get a cg of two girls going at it in some way. Your gender and censorship preferences decide if they are covered in cum, just naked and making out, or clothed and in a sex position. That’s it. Art’s good and there was deifnitely some creativity in the 25~ positions the girls take.

Honestly though, some of the cgs really give the impression that you are not there. Some do make it obvious there is someone taking a picture(aka you), but anumber of them just look like two girls going at it and that’s it. For the focus on threesomes, it really just plays like a yuri game.

So I haven’t compared directly, but the first game might have more total cgs, cause each girl had 4 or so. All but the final one were teaser images but the game still did have more per person.

Huniepop doesn’t really appeal to me so I don’t have any strong feelings about anything it does. It just kinda is.
