A compact disc image file is an exact copy of compact disc. Youcan get the image file by copying the disc to file sector by sector. PowerISOsupports all popular disc image formats. You can mount image file to a virtualdrive, and access files within the image file. In such way, you needn't burn theimage to a real disc. PowerISO will integrate itself into windows explorer. With theshell context menu, you can mount image file to a virtual drive by a simpleclick. PowerISO will automatically detect and analyse the file formats beforemount the image file.

Note that gnome-disk-image-mounter will not mount filesystems or unlock encrypted volumes in the disk image - this responsibility is left to the automounter in GNOME Shell to ensure that the same interactions happen as if the disk image was a regular physical device or disc.
